A scoring guide is a common assessment
instrument that brings the different sources of evidence into a
single focus. The guide shown here is adapted from History Day and
includes only two of several scoring dimensions: historical quality
and adherence to theme. The guide shows the criteria to be used
while looking at the social studies project and reading the student's
annotated bibliography.
This guide has three distinct components:
a checklist of criteria, a space for comments, and an overall rating.
Each serves a purpose in helping to make decisions that provide
clear and detailed feedback to students about their performance.
