Vermont Social Studies Flash site (recommended).

The Vermont Social Studies Project presents exemplary strategies and methods for implementing social science instruction in Vermont schools. In the project, a collaboration between VASS - Vermont Aliiance for the Social Studies and RETN - Regional Educational Technology Network, we sought to find and share methods, resources and philosophy related to development and implementation of curriculum on district as well as classroom levels.

In the "What is Social Studies?" section you will find perspectives on the goals and importance of social studies by quickly meeting the teacher highlighted in the project.

An in-depth exploration of the framework for social studies instruction can be found in the Curriculum design and hands-on Living Curriculum implementation.

The Resources section provides myriad connections to opportunities promoting excellence in social studies teaching and learning.

We hope you will explore, experience and enjoy the insights offered here on the web as well as in video and in print from the Vermont Social Studies Project.
